MMW#24: Anything Mixed Media Goes with a Twist

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all doing well and are enjoying the sunny weather here the UK or having a good time wherever you are right now! I always say life is instantly better with a doze of sun and art! So, if this is what you're after, you're in a right place right now, because we have a new challenge and heaps of amazing inspiration for you.

The team really excelled this time round and created the most beautiful pieces of art. I don't even know where to start. I, personally, won't be able to join in this time round which is a real shame as I was really looking forward to creating for this challenge, but one must just take her losses sometimes. Fear not though, there is so much we have to share with you today!

The new challenge is as always Anything Mixed Media Goes... BUT... we have a twist for you! Excited? :) We'd love to see you using WATERCOLOURS in your project. Now, this is totally optional, but would be great if you did.

The teamies created a plethora of mixed media artworks with watercolours and they are amazing! Here they are...

Georgie
I used watercolours to create my background and just accent the foreground. I wanted to create something with a spring theme and capture new beginnings.

Inna
I associate watercolors with tenderness. The most tender feelings we experience for our children. I devoted this page to my daughter. Background is made with a texture paste and watercolor

Irena
Today I am sharing my latest art journal layout. To create my layout I have used watercolor paints, gold light paste and clear sugar paste. You can enjoy the step by step video below.

Before I became obsessed with creating mixed media, one of my many art explorations was watercolour. Given that our April challenge prompt is 'watercolour', I dragged out my old supplies and 'introduced' them to my mixed media supplies! I have used actual watercolor paint for the 'fractured' background, but also created a watercolour look with markers and sprays.

For our April challenge I created a light mixed media layout of an unusual shape and with watercolour twist :) It is dedicated to my little daughter Karolina, who is mainly happy and bubbly, but sometimes does turn into a little drama queen. So I made a layout using colours that would reflect her personality.

Ola
When I think about watercolors I always imagine something bright and dreamy. So I decided to draw this cute whimsical dreamy girl and put her to collage background. The girl's face I colored with Prismacolor wax pencils, but her neck, her hair  I did paint with watercolors. About the flowers and feathers - actually they made with stamping and embossing and I only colored them also with a watercolors.

Torsa
I have created a project based upon the spring festival of India , Holi !! That day we used to play with colors to welcome spring !! felt really nostalgic while created this project !!
I have created the background with Bombay Ink water color !! It was really fun the way colors reacted to each other on the page !! It really seems like Holi on my page !!
I have used Wild Orchid Crafts flowers , Cuts2luv badges and 2Crafty chipboards.

Virag
I prepared a monochromatic layout for our watercolour challenge. The background was made with anilinky paint and water. I also used some shiny powder and black gesso to get the final effect. The pattern of the water colouring thanks to the head of the brush, I just touched the paper with it and it caused the spotty pattern. I also used lots of mica flakes, art stones, grids, glitters. gauze and sisal.

What did I tell you? OH MY! I love every one of these projects and hat off to my teamies for they are so talented. I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to seeing your creations. Big virtual hi five to all of you who entered our last challenge. Every single entry is amazing! I will post about our last winner same time tomorrow so make sure you come back to check!
